Alice's beautiful older sister, who reads a book without illustrations or dialogue, sits on the bank with Alice at the beginning of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. When Alice awakes, she tells her sister about her dream, and the book closes with her sister daydreaming about what Alice will be like as a grown-up.

Notes

  • Some believe that she is named Lorina after Alice Liddell's real-life sister (she was also the inspiration for the character of Lory). Although this is most likely the case, the character was never named in any work by Carroll.
  • While the original character is in public domain, the version of the character used by Disney and other later adaptations published after 1923 are NOT.
