Golden Age Origin

Betty Bates was a talented prosecuting district attorney who mainly took on gangsters. Her enemies included criminals such as The Barracuda, Double-Cross, Killer Mack, Mr. Malice and Professor Bone. She was a resourceful detective, a tough brawler, skilled in jiu-jitsu and sometimes carried a gun.

  • Before Matt Murdock (aka Marvel's Daredevil) showed up in the 60s and passed his first decade, Betty Bates was the longest running lawyer in comics. In addition, her 10 year run still remains the longest running non-powered one to feature in stories all her own and not as a supporting character.
