Real Name

First Appearance

Triumph Comics #11 (Dec.1942/Jan.1943)

Original Publisher

Commercial Signs of Canada/Bell Features

Created by

Harvey Baldwin

 Golden Age Origin

Fighting alongside the British R.A.F., the Black Avenger was a mysterious pilot who flew a futuristic fighter jet that could "cut german planes to ribbons with one burst of his nitro bullets."

Golden Age Appearances

  • Triumph Comics #11-13

  • Harvey Baldwin's only creation to be given a multi-issue run. The rest of his credited contributions were one-shot gag strips in Joke Comics.
  • Despite the briefness of its run (and amateurish quality of its artwork), it appears that the editorial staff at some point believed The Black Avenger would be a big hit, proudly announcing it in Active Comics #8 as one of their "new dynamic features!"
