The Doubtful Dromedary and Comfortable Camel were animals outside of the Land of Oz who found their way into Oz and joined Dorothy Gale's party to find the Scarecrow.
The two were traveling when they got lost in a sandstorm and ended up in Oz near the Deadly Desert. There, they met Dorothy Gale, the Cowardly Lion and Sir Hokus of Pokes, who were on a journey to find the Scarecrow. Not caring where they went, the two animals joined Dorothy's party and accompanied them to the Silver Islands, and then back to Oz.
