Golden Age Origin Edit

The Green Turtle aided the Chinese in guerrilla warfare against the Japanese invaders. He was a true mystery man who wore a green cowl and a cloak with a enormous turtle-shell design emblazoned on it. Creator Chu Hing initially wanted to make him a Chinese hero, but his publisher refused, so Hing always drew him with his back to the viewer, instead giving him a shadow with very odd, slanted eyes. The Green Turtle had no powers but was a skilled fighter and flew the the Turtle Plane. He had a sidekick, Burma Boy, a young beggar whom the Turtle rescued from execution by the Japanese army.
