Mary Ann is the White Rabbit's housemaid. In the book, she is not physically present, but the White Rabbit mistakes Alice for her, which may indicate that Alice is similar to her. The White Rabbit asks Mary Ann to run home and bring him a fan and a pair of gloves, which Alice then does instead of her. Mary Ann is mentioned in Chapter 4 of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Public Domain Appearances

  • Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (mentioned)

Much like Oz's Carrie Barry, Mary Ann is an unseen character only mentioned by others. Also much like Carrie, she must look very similar to the star character for others to have mistaken them for each other.
