Origin

In Greek mythology, the Minotaur was a creature with the head of a bull on the body of a man or, as described by Roman poet Ovid, "part man and part bull". The monster in the Cretan Labyrinth, which was a maze designed by the architect Daedalus and his son Icarus on the command of King Minos of Crete to contain the Minotaur. The Minotaur was slain by the legendary Greek hero Theseus.

Notes

  • It should be noted that most Golden Age comic depictions of the Minotaur were, in fact, either partially or entirely based on the Centaur (from the waist down being a horse).
