Pat Montez was the leader of the Apaches, a Robin Hood type of gang that steals from the rich and gives to the poor. She leaves a purple mask behind at the scene of her crimes. She began her adventures in Paris, but was active on both sides of the Atlantic.
She was tracked by private investigator Phil Kelly, who was hired by her enemies. However, it turned out that Kelly was actually the mysterious gang leader known as The Sphinx.
Pat is a master of disguise and was able to pass herself off as a male.
