Origin

Sinbad was a Persian sailor from Basra, who explored the Indian Ocean and had many fantastic and magical adventurers in the late 8th century.

After losing the fortune of his father, Sinbad sets sail to make a new fortune for himself, but after gaining riches on his first voyage, he grows thirsty for adventure and sets sail once more. He continues to explore the world both for fortune and adventure. Along the way, he sees many incredible things, including many giant animals and supernatural phenomenon.

Originally, Sinbad embarked on Seven Voyages, but Edgar Allen Poe described an eighth, in which he rides the back of a great monster around the world, and other writers have described further voyages.
