A gigantic meteorite heads for Earth. Captain Roland Simmons and Lieutenant Roy in the U.N. Guard Patrol ship, UN Patrol Ship 88, are ordered to check out the object by Space-Admiral Jennings. When they arrive, it is an enormous pock-marked meteorite. Roy estimates its diameter at about 500 miles. It is headed toward the Earth at 25,000 miles-per-hour.

Simmons decides to land the Rocket on the meteorite. As they land, they receive another message from the Admiral. Earth is being evacuated in anticipation of the meteorite's impact. This impact is calculated at less thn 5 days.

One of the crewmen of Simmon's ship suggests blowing up the meteorite. Simmons has another idea he thinks more plausible. Calling Space-Admiral Jennings once more, he requests every patrol ship with "super-rocket auxiliaries" be sent to the meteorite. The ships are sent, and under Simmons's direction, the patrol ships are nosed into the crater's on the meteorite. Pushing it with their rocket power, the UN Guard Patrol manages to move the course of the meteorite to safely miss Earth. It crashes into the Sun and is burnt to a cinder.

Captain Roland Simmons is immortalized on a monument of U.N. Space Patrol heroes to commemorate the event.
